Medical marijuana refers to the use of cannabis for medical purposes, such as to alleviate symptoms of certain medical conditions like chronic pain, epilepsy, or cancer. It is typically prescribed by a healthcare provider and is obtained through legal means in states where it is permitted. While both types of marijuana come from the same plant, medical marijuana is used specifically for its therapeutic benefits under the guidance of a healthcare professional. **
